Kickboxing FAQ’s
What should I expect?
- You should expect a kick butt workout that will leave you sweaty and energized
- A workout that will be different every time you take class
- To have fun and get a toned body in the process
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable working out in. Most people wear shorts or workout pants and a t-shirt. We go barefoot on training mats so don’t worry about shoes.
Will I need gloves?
We will lend you gloves for the first class. They are not your typical gross smelly gym gloves either! If you decide to sign up for a membership, you will need to buy gloves (we sell two kinds).
Do you have changing rooms, bathrooms and water?
Yes, yes and yes.
I don’t know how to kickbox/I’ve never done it/I don’t know what I’ll be doing!!!
Everyone comes in feeling that way. If you are a beginner and you think you are a spaz – well that is normal! We have beginners in almost every class. We promise: no one will be staring at you – this is not a snobby gym! Everyone knows you need to start somewhere, and we were all beginners at one point or another. Our instructors are great with beginners and will help you out during class and will show you the techniques you need to know. Just relax and have fun in class!
I’m not in good shape/I haven’t worked out it a long time!!!
Our Kickboxing classes are self-paced. We encourage you to work at a level that is appropriate for you. Take your time, work at your own pace, and do your best. If you feel like you need to take a break, please do so – just keep moving. Please let the instructor know before class begins if you have any injuries. If the instructor is asking the class to do a move that causes you pain because of injury or other unusual circumstances, please skip that activity and keep moving.
What sort of a workout will I get?
Kickboxing is an amazing workout – no other workout compares. Studies have shown that Kickboxing will burn up to 800 calories per hour, so be ready to sweat. Also – be ready to relive some stress. Nothing is more satisfying after a stressful day than punching and kicking a heavy bag.
When should I show up for a class?
Call or sign up online to make an appointment. Please arrive fifteen minutes early for your first class (earlier if you have questions or would like to discuss an injury or illness with an instructor).
What about my personal belongings? What do I do with them?
We have plenty of storage your belongings. If you have anything valuable with you, you may be more comfortable leaving it in your car or at home. We ask that you remove any jewelry before taking class.
Do the instructors bite?
No way! Our instructors are here to work you out, not to be intimidating. Please feel free to ask the instructor or staff if you should have any questions.
