Karate for Kids FAQ’s

Why should my child do karate as opposed to other sports like football or ballet?

Unlike other sports, martial arts is a lifestyle. Training focuses on the whole child development – intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. We can even help out if you’re having behavioral problems with your child at home – by instilling discipline and pride. We get involved with all of our students because we want everyone to benefit from what we have to offer.

What is the age requirement?

We start children at age 3.

How is Atlanta Kick different from other karate schools?

Our classes are age specific and targeted to stages of development so that we can generate measurable results for your child every time they attend a class.

How many times a week does my child need to do karate?

For a constant progression in belts, we require our students to attend class 2x/week. Practicing at home is also recommended.

How long does it take to become a black belt?

This question is asked by all karate students, maybe even anyone who thinks of taking karate. As one might guess, the answer is different for every student. Things like attendance, physical skill, humility, desire, and attitude are some of the factors that can impact the length of the journey. Ask any black belt what it felt like the day they earned their belt, and they will tell you that it was one of the proudest moments of their life. For some people it outranks graduating from college! But if you ask what it means to “be” a black belt, they will tell you that black belt is just the beginning. Black belt is not an end point; rather it is just a symbol to show a certain mastery of curriculum. But it is so much more than just the belt. In fact, the journey to black belt is what’s most important for every student. It is important to recognize that once you’ve made the commitment that you are a martial artist, every single time you train will have purpose, and bring you closer to your goal.
