Karate for Adults FAQ’s

I won’t know what to do. Does someone help me understand what’s expected of me?

Before your first class, come to the office, and a staff member will tell you what to expect. We are excellent with beginners and will make your first class a comfortable and fun experience.

What if I am uncoordinated, not athletic, can’t pat my head and stomach at the same time?

Karate can help improve your coordination and balance. Most people feel like a spaz the first time they take class but feel more comfortable with each class they take.

Will everyone be looking at me?

The only person watching you will be the instructor to make sure you know what to do and that you are comfortable. The other students are too busy with what they are doing to look at someone else.

Do I need a uniform?

When you first start karate, we would suggest wearing pants and a t-shirt, clothing that you would feel comfortable kicking and punching in. Once you are a member, you will need a uniform for class.

I don’t want to yell – do I have to?

You don’t have to yell when you first start, we promise!

Will I have to fight or train with Black Belts?

We have different types of classes. Some are mixed levels, and others are for certain ranks. As a beginner we only ask you to do your best in class, and we would never expect you to train beyond your limitations.

I’m just nervous, and [fill in excuse not to come and try karate here]…

Believe us, we understand the fears of beginners, because we were once beginners ourselves! But we love karate, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to benefit from this amazing journey. If we had it our way, everyone would be taking karate classes! Stop making excuses and come give it a try. We promise, you will love it.

Make an appointment for your first class (call 404-352-1140 or email info@atlantakick.com), and we’ll take care of the rest.
